I WAS horrified to read that a “firework extravaganza” is planned at The Northern Echo Arena in Darlington for Sunday, November 5 (Echo, Sept 23).
Once again, all owners of dogs, cats, birds and young babies within a radius of one-and-a-half miles will be subjected to the terrific noise that these fireworks create.
About 300 yards from the Arena animals are stabled.
Why does every firework have to explode like a mortar bomb?
For several years Darlington council has banned circuses which include live animals on the grounds of cruelty.
Therefore, how does an intrusively deliberate, extremely noisy display not also constitute cruelty to all animals?
