I AM writing in response to the letter ‘In perspective’ (HAS July, 26) and it ending that the death of a young boy should not hold the monopoly on virtue.

The young boy does have a name and it just happens to be Bradley Lowery.

The high profile and coverage made myself and other people aware that two children each week are diagnosed with some type of neuroblastoma with very little funding.

Bradley Lowery left a legacy and with money raised it will give other children the chance of specialist treatment that may otherwise not be readily available to them, like little Poppy from Tyneside.

The community, nation and global acceptance of this wonderful smiling little boy was because they wanted to be involved, no one forced this on anybody.

If the person who wrote the comments did not like all the coverage on their TV then I feel sure they are able to change channels on their TV and turn the page of a newspaper. No doubt the person in question by-passed page 10 of The Northern Echo on Aug 12 and did not see the BBC football focus on the same day because as it happens it was a brilliant interview with Jermaine Defoe.
