REGARDING the pressure on the maternity unit at Darlington Hospital.
Labour has been blaming Tory underfunding.
The biggest mistake in County Durham was the closure of the new maternity unit at Bishop Auckland Hospital. Why?
It is a disgraceful example of a vital busy local service which was closed and transferred to Darlington.
Where was the voice of our Labour representatives to let this happen?
There should have been an outrage at this decision. No wonder Darlington Hospital is struggling to cope.
In fact, Bishop Auckland Hospital remains the biggest white elephant on the whole of this area.
