COUNTY DURHAM and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust has made the right decision in not closing the maternity unit at Darlington Memorial Hospital for six months (Echo, Jul 20).
However, A&E, Maternity, Intensive Care, and some paediatric services are still at risk of closure, because of the Better Health Programme and the Sustainability and Transformation Plans.
The people of Darlington and surroundings have the absolute right to have health care on their doorstep, and not to have to travel many miles to another hospital for treatment, with all the problems that could entail!
Please look out for SOS DARLINGTON meetings, events and Facebook page to bring together the town to fight these plans so the future of the Memorial can be assured!
