AFTER recent articles about doctors’ surgeries I thought I’d have to write about West Cornforth Medical Centre. As from July we only have a doctor for two hours a day (4pm until 6pm).
Anything else and you have to go through the triage nurse, who apparently can prescribe medication, but first you have to telephone the health navigators (posh word for receptionists).
Trying to get an appointment with a doctor, nurse or chemist is nigh on impossible. If nurses are going to treat you, who takes responsibility if something goes wrong? Can they give you sick notes if you need time off work, can they refer you to hospital?
They tell you to go and see your own doctor or chemist instead of going to A&E but how can you when you can’t get an appointment?
