I WOULD like to join Malcolm Rolling (HAS, Jun 21) in urging people to complete the Bowel Screening Test. I have not had problems in that area myself but my wife’s family have and early detection is vital.
I have just completed the test and my wife has received a letter informing her that the programme has been extended to age 74 and a test kit will be posted to her.
When I have received my test results in the past, which have been clear, I have been given the option to take another test even though I fall well outside the upper age limit. If that option is offered when I receive the result of my latest test, I intend to take it.
The test is a very private matter and a little inconvenient but does not require much of your time and it only lasts for three days.
As Malcolm says at the end of his letter, please take the test – it may just save your life.
