IS IT the deliberate policy of Hambleton District Council to make voting in the General Election as difficult as possible?

As an ex resident of Hornby now living in Australia I am still entitled to cast my vote.

I applied in good time for a postal vote and received an e mail acknowledgement of my request on March 26.

I subsequently received a letter informing me that my postal vote would be despatched quote: “around Friday May 26”. I received the polling card today June 13. Obviously I was deprived of my vote.

It would be easy to simply blame the postal service. However, I have contacted a number of fellow English ex pats who received their postal votes much earlier than me. For example, Derbyshire Erewash council were able to supply my friends with voting cards a full 10 days before the Election.

This failure to send out voting cards in time is not an isolated occurrence. Exactly the same inadequate time allowance prevented me voting in the last General Election. I wonder if any of your other ex pat readers have encountered a similar problem?
