I VOTED tactically for Phil Wilson in the General Election because I wanted an MP for Sedgefield who favoured a ‘soft’ Brexit, rather than a Tory committed to Theresa May’s apparent ‘hard’ Brexit.
It seems that Brexit was a major consideration for many other voters, some doing as I did, although others took the opposite view.
I certainly did not want a left-wing Jeremy Corbyn Government, but calculated correctly that Labour could not win; the fact that the Tories lost was an unexpected bonus.
However, if I felt that a left-wing Labour Party stood a real chance of winning, I would certainly vote against them. Moreover, I remain convinced that enough other British voters feel the same way as me to prevent such a Government ever being elected.
Therefore, if we want to avoid many years of either hung or Tory dominated Parliaments, so-called “rebel” Labour MPs like Phil Wilson need to fight within their party for more moderate policies. Keep it up Phil!
