A 28-YEAR-OLD woman from Northallerton will be cycling 160 miles to raise money for Sport Relief.

Jessica May will undertake the challenge on an exercise bike in Daisy Doodle Paint a Pot Parlour

in the town from Friday to Sunday, with the permission of the shop’s owner Michelle Peverley-Fox.

Jess, who works at Broadacres in Northallerton, chose 160 miles as that is the distance that competitors cover in the women's Tour de Yorkshire.

Though not a fitness fanatic, Jess has been in training since the New Year to prepare for the event, during which she expects to spend four to five hours in the saddle each day.

She is taking on the challenge as she has an active interest in raising awareness of mental health issues, which is one of the themes for Sport Relief this year.

“I don’t believe mental health issues get enough exposure or funding” she said. “People often don’t realise the difficulties that sufferers of mental health problems face on a daily basis.”
