SHE’S the perfect woman.

Bee-sting lips, voluptuous breasts, a pert bottom, she’s never too tired for sex, and, best of all, she doesn’t answer back. Ever.

And even better, you can have her madeto-order to look exactly like your favourite celebrity crush, or even your ex-girlfriend.

You know, the one you’re not allowed to go anywhere near because there was that restraining order business. You might not be allowed to track her movements or contact her, but you can have a doll that looks exactly like her, and does exactly what you want.

What’s not to like?

An enterprising businessman, who will only give his name as ‘Graham’, has set up in the glamorous location of an industrial estate in Felling, Gateshead, to serve the growing market for made-to-order sex dolls.

Speaking for prostitutes nationwide, he says sex workers are ‘worried he might put them out of business’.

To be fair I think most sex workers might be more worried about the fact they’ve been trafficked, exploited from an early age, or battling a serious drug addiction and chaotic lifestyle.

The elusive Gateshead Graham has taken his business one step further – he offers a ‘try before you buy’ service. Now you don’t get that from your average sex worker, do you?

“I always knew sex dolls were going to be normalised,” he says. He claims some men even marry their dolls. In other cases, women buy them for their husbands to stop them cheating, apparently. Because sex with an overgrown Barbie doll is much better than working on a fulfilling relationship with your wife, I guess.

Disturbingly, ‘Graham’ suggests that some of his clients can live out their strange fantasies on the dolls without worrying about a stretch at Her Majesty’s Pleasure.

If you’re a man and you’re sold on this idea, I would urge you to take a long, hard look at yourself.

Feminism has gone from being a dirty word to being a de rigueur movement. Hollywood has seized on the issue of sexual violence against women, and suddenly even the gender-specific statuettes given out at award ceremonies are being called into question.

On the one hand, we have movie actors on every soapbox, shouting from the rooftops, and on the other we have Graham from Gateshead with his seedy little sex dolls business.

I don’t particularly like the idea of men using exploited sex workers either – but those who do apparently enjoy the human interaction, the ‘girlfriend’ experience. But by reducing the perfect woman to little more than a silent, beautiful, sperm receptacle, then women are objectified all over again.

There are men appearing as defendants in court on a daily basis for thinking their wives or girlfriends should behave in exactly this way, should do exactly what they are told, and be ready and willing for sex at any time.

Violence against woman comes about from an underlying message in society, often passed unwittingly from father to son, that women are there to serve man, to clean the house, to lie on her back and not complain.

I’m afraid Graham and his dolls just reinforce that.
