TWO planning applications are expected to be given approval which will add a further eight apartments in Darlington.
Council officers have recommended plans are approved to convert offices in Blackwell Lane, into four apartments and five homes.
A second application to convert offices in Eskdale Street into four apartments has also been recommended for approval.
Several neighbours to the scheme in Blackwell Lane have objected to the scheme because of concerns with the look of modern apartments in the area.
Objections have also been raised because of noise, traffic and parking problems.
However the Campaign to Protect Rural England has supported the application.
A spokesman said: "We are delighted to find a building which is being converted, rather than demolished and something else built.
"Darlington's existing buildings are important and the retention of this one is excellent."
Fewer concerns have been raised to the project in Eskdale Street. Residents have objected to parking problems, loss of privacy and a devaluation of the price of their homes.
Councillors on Darlington Borough Council's planning committee will discuss both plans when they meet on Wednesday, June 4.
