ROMAN gods, goddesses, myths and legends are the inspiration for Segedunum Roman Fort’s Easter break family activities.

The attraction, just two minutes’ walk from Wallsend Metro station, has well established Marvellous Monday family events held every Monday during school holidays.

Geoff Woodward, Museum Manager said: “Our younger visitors always really enjoy it at Segedunum – they can let off steam in the expansive space of the fort, dress up in Roman clothes and our Marvellous Mondays events are always huge fun.”

On Monday 2 April kids can get their hands dirty to make clay head sculptures of Roman gods, goddess and the legendary Horn of Cornucopias to take home.

On Monday, April 9 families can get creative and join art sessions to make their own mythical beasts, whether a Minotaur, Medusa or unicorns.

Before the public sessions the museum also offers relaxed versions of each of these activities for families .

The general sessions run from 11.30am to 3pm and the SEND sessions run just before at 10.30am to 11.30am. No booking is required, families can just drop in.

Adult admission charges apply and but there is no admission charge for children under 16. Adult entry is £5.95, concessions £3.95. A season ticket providing unlimited access costs just £14, with concessions at £10.

Adults showing a valid Metro ticket for that day from Saturday, March 31 until Sunday, April 15 can take advantage of the museum’s 2-for-1 entry offer in conjunction with Tyne & Wear Metro.

Segedunum Roman Fort also has dressing up and creative building activates in the galleries, and a fantastic shop for Roman themed pocket money treats.
