KNIFE: A man was caught with a knife in the grounds of the former Northallerton prison site
A MAN was arrested after being caught with a knife in the grounds of a former prison yesterday.
Police officers on patrol in Northallerton visited the site of the town’s now-closed prison after hearing reports of a man entering the compound.
A spokesman for Northallerton Police said the man was arrested following a foot chase.
He was found to be in possession of a knife and has been charged with related offences.
The man will appear in court in the new year.
