SANTA Claus has visited a community centre to spread festive cheer and deliver gifts to youngsters.

More than 45 children visited the Teesdale Community Resources Hub, in Barnard Castle, on Saturday for the return of its annual Christmas event.

Little ones chatted to Santa and his helper inside a grotto before receiving a letter and a gift.

At lunch time The Halcyon Singers choir performed, led by studio manager Katie Bottomley, followed by an alternative celebration of all things festive on Sunday, when the community centre was filled with hand crafted creations for sale by local producers.

There were also workshops on wreath making and edible decoration creating led by local artist Dawn Belshaw and kitchen manager Phill Osborn.

The festivities will continue this weekend with The Hub’s Christmas Concert where a range of students from the studio will perform, as well as the soul band, the choir and up and coming bands from the Teesdale area.

The concert starts at 6.30pm
