A WOMAN was held at knifepoint last night after an armed robbery at a family-run shop in Darlington.

Two youths – one brandishing a knife – robbed P&J’s Convenience Store on Brougham Street, just off North Road, yesterday evening at around 7pm.

Two male suspects entered the store and demanded cash from a female shop worker.

The pair left with a quantity of cash, running off in the direction of North Park.

The daughter of the couple who run the shop said her sister, who was held at knifepoint, was "very upset".

"My parents are both hard working people who don’t deserved to be robbed," she added.
