SUMMER may still be in full swing but that hasn't stopped the North Yorkshire Moors Railway looking ahead to Christmas with the release of tickets for its annual Santa Special Services.

Departing from both Pickering and Grosmont stations, the popular service brings to life the magic of Christmas and gives children the chance to meet Santa in his festive grotto.

On board the train youngsters can tell him what presents they would like and receive some treats from the railway, including a Christmas activity bag and a gift from Santa, with adults enjoying a mince pie, a hot drink and an alcoholic tipple.

Chris Price, general manager at North Yorkshire Moors Railway, said: “Our Santa Specials are always a great way to end the year and we love seeing so many smiley faces at the railway.

"Each year just seems to get better and better and we look forward to welcoming families for lots of festive fun.”

Passengers experiencing the service aboard the Santa Express, departing from Pickering, will also have the chance to take selfies with Santa’s ‘real life’ reindeers.

The best #reindeerselfie will win a family ticket for the 2018 season and a goody bag with Thomas the Tank Engine treats worth £100.

Santa Specials will take place on selected dates throughout December, with the first running on December 2 and the last on the 20th.

Tickets cost just £21 and pre-booking is essential to avoid disappointment, visit nymr.co.uk for full details.
