TRAVIS Perkins branches in Bishop Auckland and Durham are inviting would-be rugby players to visit in December to try their hand at the ‘Cement Mixer Challenge’, where they will be given the chance to score a try into a cement mixer.

For each rugby ball successfully thrown into the mixer, the Travis Perkins branches will make donate £1 to their local rugby teams.

On Wednesday, December 7, Travis Perkins Durham will be supporting Durham City RUFC and on Thursday, December 8, Travis Perkins Bishop Auckland will be supporting Bishop Auckland RUFC.

Those taking part on the day will be competing to score the most tries in a row, with a winner from each branch receiving £200 worth of Tesco vouchers.

Money from the two days will go towards buying equipment for Bishop Auckland RUFC and a new defibrillator for Durham City’s club house.

The Cement Mixer Challenge is open to everyone from 9.30am to 4.00pm each day.
