A NEW purpose-built care home in Newton Aycliffe will open its doors to the public for the first time this weekend.

The 58-bedroom Helen McArdle Care home is located on Central Avenue in the town’s centre, and will employ more than 50 staff from the local area.

St Clare’s Court will provide residential, dementia and respite care and has been designed to offer a unique living space, built to ensure that residents have a high quality of life and receive “the best” care.

Andrea Blades, who has extensive experience of managing care homes and will head up the team, said: “I am thrilled to be managing St Clare’s Court and I am excited to have been given the opportunity to commission my first new care home. We have received a really warm welcome from everyone in the community and I am really looking forward to meeting everyone at the open day.”

The open day is on Saturday between midday and 4pm.
