A KNIFE-wielding mugger is being hunted by police after an attempted robbery in Stockton.

The 31-year-old victim was walking along Londonderry Road towards the junction of Durham Road on Sunday, October 23, at around 6:40am. When he reached the junction he was approached by a man with a knife who demanded his phone.

He managed to fend off his attacker and the suspect then fled in an unknown direction.

The suspect is described as a white man, aged in his early 20s, around 6 ft 2 inches tall, of very slim build with scratches on his face.

He was wearing a dark coloured hooded top with writing on it and he had the hood up over his head and was carrying a shopping bag.
