THE funeral details of one of the North-East’s best known union leaders have been announced.
Dave Hopper, secretary of the Durham Miners' Association, died on July 16.
His funeral is due to take place on Friday, July 29, at the Miners’ Hall at Redhills, in Durham City, which was the headquarters of the Miners’ Association and where he spent a great deal of his time.
The service will start at 9.45am.
Mr Hopper, 73, a father and grandfather, had been general secretary of Durham Miners’ Association for 30 years. He died at his home in East Boldon after suffering a heart attack.
