A CELEBRATED musical duo will perform at one of the region’s most historic buildings next month.

The Acacia Duo will take centre stage in the Chapel at Auckland Castle in Bishop Auckland on Friday, July 15, at 7.30pm.

It will be the penultimate concert in Bishop Auckland Music Society’s 2016 series and will feature music ranging from Bach to Mozart, Donizetti to Faure.

The Acacia Duo is made up of Samantha Pearce on Flute and Heather Wright on Harp.

Widely celebrated for their dexterity and talent, the friends met while studying at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where they had an instant rapport.

They have recently been appointed as artists for the charity Live Music Now, which organises performances for people who rarely have the opportunity to experience live music.

This includes people in hospitals and care homes and children with special needs.

Tickets for the Auckland Castle concert cost £13.50 in advance or £15 on the door.

Advanced tickets are available from Brotherton’s Music in Newgate, Bishop Auckland; Brian Varley on 01388-606075; or Gillian Wales on 01388-662282.
