SEDGEFIELD Local History Society and Sedgefield Village Veterans will hold a commemoration for those who lost their lives at the Battle of the Somme.
Anyone is welcome at the remembrance service which takes place at Sedgefield War Memorial on Thursday, June, 30, at 11am. An exhibition titled Remembered at Thiepval will open at Ceddesfeld Hall following the ceremony and remain on display until 4pm.
It will also be open on Friday and Saturday from 10am to 4pm.
None of the eight Sedgefield men who fell at the Somme have a grave. They were Herbert Littleworth, William Smith, William Brumpton, John Usher Gladstone, Walter Winn, John Stamper Davison, Albert Bateman and Herbert Waite Ward.
