A NATIONAL charity has received £1,000 thanks to the partnership between a hospital and a town mayor.
The mayor of Bishop Auckland, Councillor Lee Brownson worked with Darlington Memorial Hospital to put on a ball at Redworth Hall, County Durham on July 20.
The money was donated to the mayor’s chosen charity, Help for Heroes.
Cllr Brownson said: “It was a brilliant night and the total amount of money raised for my charity is fantastic. I would like to thank Andy Gillham, Sheryl Cameron and Margaret Clothier from the hospital for all their hard work in organising the event.
“I’d also like to thank all of the other mayors who attended and Darlington Football Club for the kind donation of the signed, framed shirt as one of the raffle prizes."
The Mayor’s next fundraising event will be a comedy night at Heritage Park, Bishop Auckland Football Club, on Friday, September 18. Tickets are £15 and are available from Bishop Auckland Town Council on 01388 609852.
