DURHAM County Council will hold a planning meeting next month to discuss the proposals for two controversial planning applications in Teesdale.

The first matter concerns the emergency services hub station in Barnard Castle.

The proposals are to build a £3.78 million hub, housing fire, police, ambulance and mountain rescue services, on the site of the existing fire station, in Wilson Street.

It would be the first of its kind in the country after the service was named as one of 37 projects to be given a share of a £75 million Fire Transformation Fund.

The second application will discuss plans to erect four 125m wind turbines, known as the Windy Bank Wind Farm, on land north of Woodland village.

The council’s Planning Committee will meet at County Hall, in Durham City, on Tuesday, May 5, at 1pm.

The county council has issued instructions on how to address the committee at the meeting as there will be an opportunity.
