A TEENAGE girl had to be rescued after jumping from a bridge in Bishop Auckland last night.
Police today confirmed they led a rescue operation, along with the Great North Air Ambulance, North East Ambulance Service and Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue following the incident at about 8pm.
The Northern Echo understands the location of the incident was Latherbrush Bridge.
A police spokesman confirmed the girl was taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
He said: “Police attended a report of a female at a railway bridge and the female was rescued having leapt from the bridge.
“It was a combined effort from the services and the female suffered non life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital.”
A statement on the Bishop Auckland Police Facebook page said: "Thank you to the Great North Air Ambulance, North East Ambulance Service and Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue for their assistance this evening following an incident in Bishop Auckland."
