A MILITARY wives choir brought some festive cheer to shoppers at a North-East supermarket.

Members of the Military Wives, Affiliates, Girlfriends and Servicewomen (Wags) Choir, from Catterick Garrison, spent an evening serenading shoppers at Sainsbury’s in Victoria Road, Darlington.

Copies of the Harmonies for Heroes CD, created by the choir and the Muker and Reeth bands, were also on sale to raise funds for Phoenix House Recovery Centre, in Catterick Garrison.

The centre is aiming to raise £100,000 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the First World War by creating a Wellbeing Centre housing sports and arts facilities for sick, injured and wounded veterans and service personnel.

The choir was set up in 2010 to provide support for military wives, partners, girlfriends and other servicewomen in the Catterick Garrison area.
