IMAGES have been released of a man and woman police want to speak to after a member of railway staff was verbally abused at Hartlepool station.
British Transport Police are trying to track down the pair following the incident which took place at around 10.15am on Saturday, August 2.
PC Jonathan McNulty said: “A man and woman alighted from a train at the station. As they approached the ticket office the man began to hurl racial abuse at a member of station staff.
“The female then joined in and verbally abused him as well.”
Following a number of enquiries, officers have managed to isolate a CCTV image of a man and woman they would like to speak to. Officers believe they may have travelled from Newcastle or Sunderland.
PC McNulty added: “The language that was used to abuse this member of staff, who was simply doing his job, is quite simply disgraceful and we will not tolerate it. I am convinced the couple captured on CCTV has key information about the incident and I call on anyone who recognises them, or has information about the incident to come forward.”
Anyone with information is urged to call British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40 or call Crimestoppers on 0800-555111 quoting log PSUB/B6 of 28/8/14.
