AFTER taking his soaking in good humour, Peter Barron nominated a world cup winning rugby player and a golf pro to take the Ice Bucket Challenge.
England Women’s rugby captain Katy Mclean and Rockliffe Hall’s head pro-golfer John Stacey both accepted.
Mr Stacey received his soaking courtesy of European Senior Tour champion golfer Paul Wesselingh and he joked afterwards that the water felt warm and that it was a “lovely” experience.
He then went on to nominate former Middlesbrough footballer and current BBC Tees match commentator Neil ‘Maddo’ Maddison to get wet for charity.
Ms Mclean, who led England to World Cup glory over Canada at the weekend, will undertake her challenge on September 6 to mark her parent club Darlington Mowden Park RFC’s first game of the season at home to Blaydon.
She will be supported in her endeavour by members of the rugby club.
