A THREE-YEAR-OLD boy fell 20ft from a North Yorkshire harbour wall - but escaped serious injury.

Ambulance crews say it is remarkable the boy was not badly hurt, after falling from the wall at Staithes, north of Whitby, at about 1.30pm.

The Great North Air Ambulance trauma team was called and arrived within ten minutes, but found the boy virtually unhurt.

A GNAAS spokesman said: "Considering he had fallen such a distance, upon arrival of the trauma team, he was in good spirits."

He said the boy was able to answer Peppa Pig, when asked what his favourite programme was, and was able to answer questions about the programme.

The spokesman said: "Due to the logistics of the area and the fact that he remarkably only appeared to have suffered minor injuries, it was decided that the GNAAS doctors would travel in the ambulance to James Cook University Hospital with the child for observation. Upon arrival he was stable."
