A 17-YEAR-OLD boy with head injuries was rescued in the early hours of this morning (Monday, April 21).

The youngster had been walking by the side of Skelton Beck at Saltburn, east Cleveland, with friends when he slipped and fell shortly before 3.30am.

The ambulance service called Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team and 19 members of the team answered the call.

Rescuers helped with emergency care and then stretchered the 17-year-old from a steeply sloping point on the side of the beck to their Land Rover for transport to a waiting Ambulance on Victoria Road in Saltburn.

He was then transferred to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough.

Barry Warrington, of Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team, said: “We were happy that we could provide assistance and help to ensure that the injured young man was transferred to hospital as quickly as possible.”
