A FAMILY – believed to be grandparents with their grandchildren – had to be rescued when their car ended up in a ditch following a collision.
North Yorkshire Police are appealing for witnesses following the accident on the A169 Whitby to Pickering road, near RAF Fylingdales.
The collision involved a blue Fiat Panda and a blue MG ZR car and occurred close to RAF Fylingdales at about 9.25am on Saturday (April 19).
The people inside the Fiat Panda, which ended up on its side in a ditch, were taken to Scarborough Hospital by ambulance for treatment to none life-threatening injuries. It is believed they are grandparents and their grandchildren who were visiting from the Birmingham area.
The man driving the MG, from the Stafford area, was uninjured.
Emergency assistance was also provided by North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue and staff from RAF Fylingdales.
Traffic was managed around the collision scene to allow the police to investigate and for the recovery of the Fiat Panda from the ditch. The road was back to normal by 11.50am.
Witnesses to the collision, or anyone who recalls seeing either car prior to the accident should call North Yorkshire Police on 101 and ask for Gareth Gilleard. Or email: gareth.gilleard@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk
