Police van on emergency call collides with car in Middlesbrough

A POLICE van responding to an emergency call was in collision with a car yesterday (Saturday, December 8).
A 58-year-old woman who was driving a blue Peugeot 207 involved in the incident in Middlesbrough was taken to James Cook University Hospital for checks.
A police officer travelling in the van was also taken to hospital with leg injuries.
The collision has been referred to Cleveland Police’s Professional Standards Unit as a matter of routine.
Cargo Fleet Lane and Londlands Road were closed for an hour following the crash at 4.15pm for investigation work.
Police are asking for witnesses to contact Acting Sergeant Darren Cawthorne, of the Cleveland and Durham Specialist Operations Unit, on the non emergency 101 number, quoting Event 220079.
