THE Teesside 500 Group are organising their annual Vintage Bus Running Day to be held next weekend.

This is to be the nineteenth such event which the Stockton based group of bus enthusiasts have organised since its inception in 2000.

The event is based at the Middlesbrough landing of the historic Transporter Bridge, which will be the terminus for a series of bus routes to be operated for the day by beautifully restored vintage buses, many of which used to operate on Teesside between the 1950s and the 1990s.

Passengers will be carried to Stockton High Street and to Yarm Town Hall, and return, via a number of different routes. Buses will also call into Middlesbrough Bus Station.

Travel will be free but a souvenir ticket may be issued.

A group spokesman said: "We will also run our popular vintage coach tour to Great Ayton and Stokesley on the afternoon. This is also free but because places are limited, seats on the Tour need to be pre-booked on the day at the Transporter Control Bus.

"We will also operate a service around South Bank, Grangetown, Eston, Normanby and Teesville, which first operated in 2016 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the closure of the former trolleybus depot at South Bank."
