A1 closed near Metro Centre after crane incident
POLICE have opened the A1 northbound near the Metro Centre which had been closed after a crane began leaking fluid onto to the road.
At 9.40am police were informed fluid from a crane travelling on the A1 had leaked onto the road.
The A1 northbound was closed at Junction 27 between Ikea and Metro Centre to allow the road to be cleaned.
Northumbria Police tweeted: "The A1 northbound is now fully open. Motorists are thanked for their patience."
