A TRAIN conductor who regularly recites poetry to travellers is in the running for another award.
Graham Palmer, who works for Northern Rail, has been named as a finalist in the frontline employee of the year category of the National Transport Awards, being held in October.
Mr Palmer, from Skelton, east Cleveland, who is based at Middlesbrough Railway Station, won a People’s Choice award from the rail firm earlier this year.
Northern, the UK’s largest rail operator outside of London, has also been nominated in the rail operator of the year category.
Meanwhile, a retail ‘Smart Wall’ in place at Harrogate railway station has also seen Northern shortlisted in the excellence in technology category.
It includes interactive touchscreen technology and gives customers information on trains, the latest on social media, news headlines, weather and local area information.
