NORTHERN Rail is encouraging customers to “tweet” its trains in a bid to ensure they look their best.

Every Northern Rail carriage – and there are more than 850 of them – now has a personalised “Tweet Me” message on-board to invite customers to share real-time feedback about their experience.

Alex Hynes, managing director for Northern Rail, said: “We always want our customers to enjoy their journey on-board with us but sometimes it’s hard to keep our trains looking their best when they’re always on the move.

“Our Tweet stickers help us respond to customer feedback in real-time, using our expanding social media team to get the necessary information to our cleaners, maintenance fitters and station teams on the ground.

“Delivering a real-time railway to our customers is important to us and this is another way we’re helping deliver a real-time customer experience.”

Northern has been criticised for its use of outdated Pacer trains, which the Government has pledged will be scrapped as part of a raft of rail improvements for the North.
