A NORTH-EAST trunk road was reduced to one lane following an accident between two lorries today (Thursday, September 17).
The emergency services were alerted to the crash on the A19 southbound carriageway, just north of the Peterlee junction, shortly before 11am.
A Durham Police spokesman said: "The accident involved a Renault light van and a Scania wagon.
“Neither of the drivers were hurt.”
The Renault driver was a 26-year-old man from the North Yorkshire area, while the driver of the Scania was a 30-year-old man from Manchester.
The spokesman added: “Autolink dealt with the partial road closure. One lane was closed but the other remained open while the debris was cleared."
The road was re-opened shortly after 1pm.
