A LANDLORD will be serving up a beast of a feast at this year’s Durham Big Ride.

Trevor Davis, landlord at the Court Inn, Durham, will be offering burgers, hot dogs and other takeaways to cyclists and supporters at the annual community cycle and its big brother, the 52-mile Beast challenge, next month (September).

Ride organiser Ed Tutty said: “We’ve had outside catering in the past but as with everything we’re trying to improve what we do and this is a real step up for us.

“This is quality catering for people to enjoy on their day out. It’s part of the experience.”

Mr Davis, whose outdoor catering firm is called Cheese and Pickle, promised to satisfy tired cyclists after their exertions.

The Durham Big Ride, with routes of three, ten and 25 miles, takes place on Sunday, September 6, starting and ending at County Hall, Durham.

The Beast, which includes nearly two miles of climbing and is aimed at accomplished cyclists, follows on Sunday, September 20, starting at Sniperley park and ride.

Peter Goodall, 64, of Sunderland, will be tackling the Beast for the second time, while for Judith Binns, 50, of Washington, it will be her third go at the route. For costs and to sign up, visit durhambigride.co.uk
