MOTORISTS are being warned of overnight closures of the Great North Road in North Yorkshire for barrier and white-lining work.

The closures will take place as part of the major scheme to upgrade the A1 to motorway standard between Leeming and Barton.

From July 18 until July 20 the A1 will be closed overnight in both directions between 8pm and 6am. From July 25 through to July 31 the same overnight closures will be in place.

For the northbound closures the A1 will be closed between junction 50 at Baldersby and Scotch Corner, and southbound between Scotch Corner and junction 51 at Leeming.

Clearly signed diversions will be in place and drivers are advised to allow extra time for their journeys.
