Police accident investigators are appealing for information following the death of an elderly pedestrian in a sea-front road collision.
The 81-year-old woman was taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital, suffering serious head and leg injuries, following the accident involving a silver Vauxhall Astra car on the A183 Whitburn Road, in the city, at about 10.30am.
But she was confirmed died at the hospital, a few hours later. Anyone with information about the accident is asked to contact police on 03456-043043.
