A YOUNG mother has been left traumatised after a man grabbed her nine-week old son as she walked along a North-East beach.
Nicole Kemp was enjoying the sun at Skinningrove, Teesside, on Thursday when the man, who spoke with a 'Cockney' accent, tried to abduct Mitchell in his buggy.
And if it hadnt been for a passer-by the situation could have been a lot worse for the teenager.
The 17-year-old has been left terrified to take her son out on her own and is desperate to say thank you to the man who helped wrestle Mitchell from the grasps of the would-be child abductor.
Speaking from her Loftus home, in east Cleveland, she said: "I have been left absolutely stunned - I am traumatised by what happened.
"I would really like to thank the man who came and helped me - I don't know what would have happened if he hadn't been there."

The teenager was approached from the rear by the man and, following a brief discussion, he grabbed the handles of the buggy and started making off across the beach.
Screaming and shouting, she managed to alert another man on the beach who wrestled the baby back off the assailant who then ran off.
The would-be abductor is described as a white male, approximately 5ft 10ins tall, of stocky build and aged in his late 30s early 40s.
He had a bald head and spoke with a non-local accent possibly "Cockney".
He was wearing a white short sleeved shirt, dark tracksuit bottoms, and dark blue or black trainers. He was scruffy in appearance, and may have a tattoo or mark on his bicep.
Nicole's mother, Elaine Kemp said: "This man needs catching before he tries to grab another baby. We don't know what he intended to do but it has left the whole family terrified of what could have happened to Mitchell.
"Nicole hasn't slept since Thursday and she is in absolute pieces over what happened, she can hardly think straight. She is now too scared to go out of the house with Mitchell unless someone else is with her."
Detectives from Cleveland Police are urging anyone with any information regarding this incident to contact Detective Constable Sonia Moss at Kirkleatham CID on 01642-302626 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
