SEVEN groups have been invited to plan how to spend at least £4.5m on regenerating rural areas in the North-East.
One NorthEast, the regional development agency, has asked for detailed plans on how the European Union money should be spent over the next three years.
The invited groups now have until the end of February to produce their strategies for One NorthEast's Leader Selection Panel.
The groups include: * Tees Valley Rural Community Council and Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council for the Tees Valley, with collaboration with the North York Moors National Park; * Teesdale and Wear Valley Local Strategic Partnership is to work with North Pennines Plus on a joint strategy for the North Pennines; * Durham Rural Community Council for County Durham.
The final decision on which groups will be invited to deliver the regeneration is expected in March.
