AN attempt to launch an egg into space has reached an altitude of nearly 22 miles.
The attempt was made at the World Egg Throwing Championships in Swaton, Lincolnshire, with a weather balloon taking the hard-boiled egg to an altitude of 21.7 miles before it returned to Earth near Hull.
