AN 80-YEAR-OLD man is tonight fighting for his life after he was struck by a heavy goods vehicle.
A police spokesman said the pedestrian was in collision with a Martins Skip Hire truck in Clarence Street, York, at just after 3pm today.
The victim was taken to the York District Hospital where he underwent surgery.
He was tonight described as being in a critical condition.
An appeal has been made for anyone who saw the accident or who saw the lorry with a red skip on the back to contact the police.
