A WOMAN has denied being the owner of a dog dangerously out of control after 12 people were attacked in a play park.
Fathers ran to help when children were attacked by a Staffordshire bull terrier-type dog in Blyth, Northumberland, on Wednesday evening.
Nine youngsters needed hospital treatment after the incident at the park in Burns Avenue.
Appearing before magistrates sitting at Newcastle Crown Court today, Claire Neale, 37, of Chasedale Crescent, Blyth, Northumberland, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Remanding her in custody, chairman of the bench Marj Robertson declined jurisdiction and said the case would be heard at crown court on June 3.
Two people helping police with their inquiries have been released on bail.
Superintendent Mick Paterson of Northumbria Police Northern Area Command said: "Investigations into this incident are ongoing and I urge anyone with any information to contact the police.
"We will continue to have extra neighbourhood officers in the area speaking to those involved and offering reassurance to local residents who have any concerns."
