A "VULNERABLE" puppy which needs specialist care has been stolen from a house in Middlesbrough.

Four males aged between 14 and 22 were later arrested on the A19, in the early hours of Friday, but the eight-week-old puppy is still missing.

The female miniature Chihuahua/Yorkshire Terrier cross was stolen in an alleged two-in-one burglary at a house in Hovingham Street, North Ormesby.

The dog is particularly vulnerable as she was rejected by her mother when born and needs a special diet and specific care.

Police said the owners were concerned the puppy may not survive if she is not looked after properly.

Anyone with information or who may have seen or been offered this dog for sale is asked to contact DS Louise Sproson at Cleveland Police as a matter of urgency. Please use the 101 number.

*Three men aged 22, 19 and 17 have been charged with aggravated taking a vehicle without the owner's consent. A 14-year-old boy was also arrested on suspicion of burglary and has been interviewed and released on police bail, pending further inquiries.
