Burgess Premier Small Animal Show, Yorkshire Event Centre, Harrogate, on Saturday/Sunday, 9-4pm
With approximately 3,000 cavies, chinchillas, gerbils, hamsters, mice, rabbits and rats attending the show over two days, The Burgess Premier Small Animal Show is the longest running and biggest small animal show in the UK, staged at the Yorkshire Event Centre in Harrogate. A new addition for this year is a demonstration of rabbit food recipes, hosted by Great British Bake Off’s Sandy. The Show has been a key date in the Small Animal world since 1921. It sees hundreds of breeders of small animals come together under one roof, for the competition of the year.

This is the closest you will get to the sounds of the real thing! As this band don’t try to be Hendrix or Cream, this makes it more of an appreciation rather than a tribute. Wonderful music, beautifully and faithfully played. Tickets on 01833-640854. 

Magic in the Museum - Free song writing workshop, The Bowes Museum, Barnard Castle on Saturday, 2-4.45pm
Taking inspiration from Robert Mapplethorpe’s iconic music portraiture, The Lake Poet’s Marty Longstaff, whose own work has been produced by Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics, is running this first of three free song writing workshops to complement the current Mapplethorpe exhibition. Ultimate Bowie pays tribute to the work of this global super-star, in a show that is visually stunning and vocally impressive.
