ALL eyes were on the night sky last night for a once-in-a-generation lunar spectacular.
For the first time in more than 30 years, a total lunar eclipse took place while the Moon was at its closest point to Earth – the so-called Supermoon.
The Moon looked bigger and brighter throughout the night, but as the lunar eclipse began it turned a rusty-red colour, known as a Blood Moon.
The two events have not coincided since 1982 and will not be repeated until 2033.
