A GLASS recycling firm has joined forces with a lifesaving charity to help keep it on the road.

WRL Glass Media has chosen Bloodrun EVS and its charity for the year and has kicked started its fundraising help by donating an iPad mini, which will be up for grabs at a special auction on the charity's stand at Teesside Airshow on August 29.

Over the course of the year the Teesside-based company will continue to support the charity with a series of donations and fundraising activities.

Rob Adams, chairman at Bloodrun EVS, said: “The commitment by WRL Glass Media means a great deal, it will allow us to continue to our life-saving service, which over the past five years has helped thousands of people in the region’s hospitals.”

The Blood Bike Charity was established in 2010 to provide a free urgent courier service to North East NHS Hospitals and Trusts.

The charity is staffed by unpaid volunteers who offer their time to provide the service to the NHS with the purposes of saving the NHS money and providing a reliable and professional transportation service.

Gareth Godwin, manager at WRL Glass Media, said: “Bloodrun EVS and its volunteers provide a vital support service to the NHS free of charge and rely solely on goodwill and donations to continue operating. This is why we’ve chosen to commit to supporting it for the next 12 months and help to support its operations."
