CONTROVERSIAL footballer Luis Suarez features in a children’s book being launched in the North-East at the weekend.

Daydreaming Daisy McCloud is the sixth book in the Monstrous Morals series by The Northern Echo’s editor Peter Barron.

It is the rhyming story of a little girl who has her head in the clouds. When a cloud in the shape of a sinister skull comes down to envelop her school, every lesson takes on a monstrous theme.

The PE lesson features a football match, starring a vampire striker who bites defenders. He just happens to be called Luis.

Mr Barron and illustrator Paul Wick will be staging a story-telling workshop for primary age children at Crown Street Library, in Darlington, this Saturday.

It will comprise a reading of the new book and, followed by a chance to create a new Monstrous Morals character.

Afterwards, The author and illustrator will be signing copies of the book, published by Pro-actif, at Waterstone’s in the Cornmill Centre, Darlington, between 12 and 2pm, then across the town centre at Guru between 2pm and 3pm.

"Scary-cakes" will be served and there will be a set of free toy fangs with every book sold.
